Plan limits and overage

Every plan includes an allowance of jobs for each billing period. This page covers what uses it up, what happens when you reach it, and why SMS works differently.

Your allowance is measured by the work you actually staff, not by every draft you create.

  • A job counts the first time you assign a resource to it. Creating or drafting a job that nobody is on yet is free.
  • A job counts once per customer and location. Reschedule the visit, send someone back, or retry a failed visit at the same customer and the same location, and it does not count again.
  • Change the customer or change the location, then assign, and that is new work, so it counts again.
  • A job with no customer on it never counts.
  • A project never counts. Its jobs count, exactly as any other job would.
  • An observation never counts. It is a report, not work. If the office turns one into a job, that job counts like any other once it is staffed.

In short, you are billed for a distinct piece of work at a distinct place, not for the edits, retries and reschedules of that same work.

Usage and overage on the Account > Billing page carries a single switch, and its label tells you which way you are set: Hard cap or Pay-as-you-grow.

When you reach your job allowance, WorkWing stops the action that would take you over it. You cannot staff another job until the next billing period, or until you move up a plan. Nothing is charged beyond your plan price. This is how a new account starts.

The page tells you when you get there and offers you the two ways out: Enable pay-as-you-grow or Change plan.

You keep working past the allowance. Each extra job is billed at your plan’s overage rate and added to your next invoice.

Turning it on opens a confirmation that shows the rate per extra job and asks you to set a spend cap. The cap is required: there is no way to enable this and leave the amount open. Once the accrued overage would take you past the cap, WorkWing goes back to pausing for the rest of the period.

Pay-as-you-grow is not part of the Free plan. The Free job limit is a hard stop, and the way past it is a paid plan.

  • The cap is one amount covering job overage across your account.
  • Usage inside your included allowance never touches it. Only over-allowance jobs accrue against it.
  • When the next job would take you past the cap, staffing pauses. Everything inside your allowance keeps working.
  • Edit cap changes it, and the change takes effect at once. When you have hit it, the same control reads Raise cap.
  • The cap and the overage counter both reset at the start of each billing period.

The card shows how much of the cap you have used this period and the date you turned overage on.

SMS is included in your plan and is never billed as an extra.

Each paid plan comes with an SMS allowance for the period. Go past it and messages keep sending. SMS is never paused, never added to your bill and never counts against your spend cap, whichever way your switch is set. The Free plan has no SMS.

The customer-facing message is the en-route text, sent when an engineer sets off. You control it per brand, it is off until you turn it on, and it reaches customers who have opted in and have a UK number on file. See Customer notifications.

The Account > Billing page shows a live bar for every allowance, including SMS, and, when pay-as-you-grow is on, how much overage has accrued against your cap. A bar turns amber as you approach a limit and red when you reach it. What that page says is the figure to trust.

The per-job overage rate for each plan is shown on the Billing page before you confirm, and on the pricing page.
