Verification codes

A verification code is a short code attached to a job. Your engineer shows it at the door and the customer checks it against the code you gave them when the visit was booked. It’s a small thing that makes a stranger on the doorstep verifiable, which matters most for home visits, high-value work and anywhere identity is regulated.

Codes are a brand setting. Go to Settings > Brands, pick a brand, and find Job Verification Codes on the Appearance tab.

Verification Mode decides whether codes are made at all. Disabled makes none, Enabled gives every new job one. A code is never checked by WorkWing: your engineer shows it, and it is the customer’s choice whether to ask.

Code Format decides what they look like. It’s only available when the mode isn’t Disabled.

Format Example
Word Pair Blue Tiger
Alphanumeric XK7-29
PIN 4829

Word pairs are the easiest to read over the phone, which is usually what you want if you’re telling the customer the code when you book. PINs read best on a small screen. The alphanumeric format leaves out the letters I and O so nobody mistakes them for 1 and 0.

Changing these settings needs the Brand Administrator or Tenant Admin role.

A code is set once, when the job is created, from the brand’s setting at that moment. Turn codes on later and the jobs you already have don’t get one; turn them off and existing codes stay put. So switch the setting on before the work you want covered goes in.

On the job page, in a card near the top with a Copy button, so you can paste it into a booking confirmation or read it out.

In the mobile app, on the engineer’s job screen with a share button and a line reminding them what it’s for.

WorkWing puts the code on the job. Passing it to the customer is your call: read it out when you book, put it in the confirmation email, or send it in your own message. Whatever channel you use, tell the customer to expect it, because a code nobody was told to look for verifies nothing.
