Early-finish suggestions

When an engineer completes a job and has time before their next one, the dispatch board offers to fill it. A strip appears in their free time on the board, for example Free until 15:30, 2 jobs fit. Click it to open the list of jobs that would fit, each with Assign and Dismiss.

Early-finish suggestions are on the Standard plan and above, wherever route planning is available. On other plans nothing appears.

When a suggestion appears

A suggestion appears when an engineer completes a job and has at least 30 usable minutes before their next job or the end of their shift. Shift end comes from the engineer’s working hours, or from the default shift in Auto-Assignment when they have none.

Which jobs are offered

If the engineer has time booked out at any point during the gap, no suggestion appears.

Otherwise up to three jobs are offered. A job is a candidate when it:

  • is a standard job (not a project job), pending, unassigned, and in one of the engineer’s brands;
  • is not schedule-locked;
  • is either unscheduled or due today;
  • has a location on the map;
  • needs no mandatory skills the engineer lacks, going by the mandatory skills on its job type;
  • fits: the travel there, the job’s duration (the job type’s estimate, else 60 minutes) and the travel on to the engineer’s next job together fit inside the gap.

Candidates are ranked by travel time from the job the engineer has just finished, then priority, then how long the job has been waiting. Each shows an estimated travel time such as ~12 min away and its duration.

Accepting and dismissing

Assign schedules the job for that engineer at the earliest sensible time in the gap. It goes through the normal scheduling path, so the engineer gets the usual assignment notification. If someone else has assigned the job first, you are told it has already been assigned.

Dismiss hides the suggestion. A suggestion also goes away on its own at the end of the gap.

Who sees them

Only people who can assign jobs on that brand, and Tenant Admins, see suggestions.
