Managing locations
A location is a site you work at. One customer can have as many as they need: a landlord with fifty flats, a chain with six branches, a household with one address.
Locations matter more than they look. The pin is what puts a job on the dispatch map, what lets you pick the nearest engineer, and what the mobile app navigates to. The access notes are what stop someone standing outside a locked gate.
Open a customer and choose the Locations tab.
What each row shows
Section titled “What each row shows”The address, then the town, county and postcode underneath, then the access notes. On the right you get the location type, a Verified badge if the address has been confirmed, and Primary location on the customer’s default site.
The menu at the end of the row has Edit, Set as primary and Delete.
Adding one
Section titled “Adding one”Click Add Location. The dialog has two tabs.
On Address, start typing in the search box at the top and pick the match. WorkWing fills in the rest for you. You can also type it by hand: Address Line 1 is the only field it insists on. The names of the fields follow the country, so a UK address asks for a County and a Postcode while a US one asks for a State and a ZIP code.
Formatted Address is the version shown in lists and on the map. Leave it empty and WorkWing writes it from the fields above.
Below that is Pin location. Click Find on map to place the marker from the address you’ve typed, then drag it to the exact spot: the loading bay rather than the front door, the right entrance of a big site. You can also click the map to drop the pin yourself.
On Details, set the Location Type (Residential, Commercial, Industrial, Field / Outdoor, Park, Construction Site, Public Space or Other) and write the Access Notes & Instructions. That last field goes to whoever turns up: gate codes, where to park, which door, who to ask for.
Click Create. The location appears in the list straight away.
The primary location
Section titled “The primary location”Each customer has one primary location, and it’s the site already chosen when you raise a job for them. The first location you add becomes primary on its own. To change it, open the row menu on a different location and choose Set as primary.
Editing the address on the customer’s own form updates that primary location too, so you don’t end up with two versions of the same site.
The verified badge
Section titled “The verified badge”Verified marks an address someone has confirmed against an outside source. There’s no switch for it on the form; it’s set through the API.
Who can do what
Section titled “Who can do what”Adding, editing and changing the primary location need the same access as editing the customer: Operator, Operations Manager, Brand Administrator or Tenant Admin. Deleting a location is restricted to Tenant Admins.
