Custom domain

Your team reaches WorkWing at a subdomain WorkWing gives you when you sign up. A custom domain puts the same workspace on an address you own, so your team goes to workwing.yourcompany.com instead.

Open Settings > Custom Domain. You need the Tenant Admin or Brand Administrator role.

The top of the page shows your current address, yourcompany.workwing.app. You picked it when you signed up, and you can change it with Change Subdomain for the first 24 hours. The page tells you how long is left. After that it is fixed, and changing it means asking support.

Your subdomain keeps working whatever else you do, including once a custom domain is live, so a problem with your own DNS never locks your team out.

A custom domain is included on the Standard and Professional plans. You can have one per organisation. Use a subdomain of a domain you already own, such as workwing.yourcompany.com or app.yourcompany.com.

  1. Click Add Custom Domain and enter the address you want.
  2. WorkWing shows you the DNS records to add. There is a TXT record that proves you own the domain, a record that lets your certificate be issued and renewed, and a CNAME that routes traffic to WorkWing.
  3. Add each record with your DNS provider, then click I’ve Added the Records.
  4. WorkWing checks for the records and issues the certificate. This usually takes 5 to 10 minutes.

If your domain is on Cloudflare, the page says so and every record must be set to DNS only (grey cloud). A proxied record stops your domain reaching WorkWing.

Names are shown in full. Some DNS providers append your domain to whatever you type, so if yours does, leave your domain off the end.

You do not have to wait on the page. Close it and use Check Status on the domains page whenever you want to check again. Nothing is lost.

Status Meaning
Pending Verification Your DNS records have not been seen yet
Provisioning SSL The records are in place and the certificate is being issued
Active Live and serving your workspace
Error Something is wrong with the configuration
SSL Expired The certificate needs renewing

When a record points at the wrong target, the page tells you what it found and what it should be.

A custom domain is set once and covers your whole organisation, not one brand. If you run several brands, they all sit behind the same address, and each brand’s own look reaches customers through appearance settings, its emails and the customer portal.

Remove Domain takes it off. Your workspace stays reachable at its WorkWing subdomain, and you can add a different domain afterwards. A domain you already have keeps working if you move to a plan without the custom domain feature, and you can still remove it.

These are two different things on two different plans. A custom domain changes the address your team uses, and is on Standard and Professional. Removing the “Powered by WorkWing” line from the emails your customers get is on Professional. See Appearance.
